Rosetta are back by popular demand!! But first, let’s get acquainted with our new friends JUNIUS. This show is one of only three US dates before they head off to Europe and the only one with Rosetta.

JUNIUS:

JUNIUS are an epic dark rock four piece from Boston, MA. But don’t let that vague description discourage you – these are true masters of their craft, wielding inspiration from the best of shoegaze, post-rock, and post-punk. The boys from beantown are set to drop their latest, "The Martyrdom of a Catastrophist” on The Mylene Sheath to a mostly unexpecting populous the Tuesday following our show. Best be ready for some new tracks to be performed!! Here’s a few snippets from some of their proponents:

"This darkly lush epic is the best soundtrack for reveling in the melancholy of actually living since My Bloody Valentine's Loveless." - Alternative Press

"One of the most engaging dark rock albums to come out since Joy Division last graced a stage." - Disclosure Magazine

"Breathtaking atmospherics and dark sensibilities deserved of being likened to The Cure's Disintegration... With high energy emanating out of a pensive sound, Junius punctures each track with unshakable singularity until it turns into something addictive and encompassing." - Exclaim! Magazine

"This album certainly might catapult them into the realm of the most revered bands in their genre." - Absolute Punk

"I can honestly say there aren't many bands I know of doing anything as close to as good and as different as this." - Bystander Fanzine

ROSETTA:

Supporting will of course be the mighty ROSETTA. Almost no longer needing an introduction to all you fine Ithacan underground partakers, but for those unaware – this band must be seen to be fully realized. Their performance is truly a full body experience. Not in the sense of performance art or something like that. I’m talking about what the sound itself does to you. So massive and perfectly arranged you feel mesmerized and completely suspended in space and time. Metal for astronauts indeed!

Recently, the band re-released their mammoth 2CD debut, “The Galilean Satellites” on two sets of 2x12 vinyl. That’s not a typo. That’s four slabs of wax for all you drooling audiophiles to gawk over. The first 2x12 found its way into my stacks on transparent blue already :D

For those needing a more straightforward description, Wiki says: “Rosetta is an American band incorporating elements of post-hardcore, drone, post-rock, post-metal, and ambient, creating a sound similar to Neurosis, Isis, and even Stars of the Lid (all of whom they cite as major influences), and referred to by some as "space metal". Indeed, members of the band are very interested in astronomy and space travel.”

SWATH:

Also back by popular demand, Binghamton’s prized five-piece, SWATH. Last seen in Ithaca the last time Rosetta was here - the loudest show ever with Buried Inside at The Pirate House. These fine men craft their own beautiful blend of metallic post-rock, a perfect complement to the two headliners. If you haven’t checked out their latest blue gem on CD, hit up the Pirate House Distro for your copy so you can slow-headbang along!
